Anyone who’s read more than one or two of my blog posts will know that I’m a writer. You’ll know that I (without blowing my own trumpet) have a bit of a talent at it. And you’ll also know that I suffer quite a lot with writer’s block. Quite often I’ll open a piece to work on, glance at what I’ve already written and decide it’s complete rubbish and that I don’t want to (can’t) work on it.
We’ve had four weeks of this term of my writing class at the local college, and I’ve handed in one week of homework. I have the other three sitting on my computer just waiting to be finished. But when I look at them I’m disgusted.
Yesterday I saw a tweet by one of the writers that I follow.
She has a very good point. A LOT of writing quotes have the same sentiment. Including my favourite one.
“Writing is easy. All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until drops of blood form on your forehead.” – Gene Fowler
I have no idea who he is, but he’s a genius.
Based on that vein, I’m going to go see if I can finish one of those pieces of homework. Even if it’s rubbish.
