When I posted about my latest beading creations the other day, I promised a tutorial for how to make the zebra star earrings. And here it is.
You will need:
– 2 French earwires
– 2 headpins
– 2 jump rings
– 4 flat hematite star beads
– 10 4mm black and white synthetic calsilica gemstones
– round nosed pliers
– standard pliers (mine have ridges but it’s better to use flat nose)
Thread the beads onto the headpin. I placed one gemstone at the bottom, followed by a star, three more gemstones, a second star and then the final gemstone.
Use the round nose pliers to roll the rest of the headpin into a basic loop.
Open the jump ring and slide on the headpin and the French earwire.
Originally I had planned to include the French earwire in the basic loop at the end of the headpin, without using jump rings – which is why they have their own picture. But that left the earring without a certain element of swing.
Close the jump ring.
Repeat steps 1-4 for the second earring.
Admire your gorgeous new earrings.
Obviously, you can use a different type of earwire if you prefer, and you can use any beads in any combination.
What do you think of my tutorial? Please forgive the slightly blurry picture! I’d like to do more tutorials, and would appreciate any feedback.
