Adventures in Beading

On alternate Wednesdays from now on I’m going to be keeping you all up to date with my lessons and stuff with beading.

I’ve been playing with my beading stuff all week.  I can’t stop!  Each session begins with quite a bit of reorganising and sorting, but that’s just me.  I enjoy that bit 🙂

But I’ve also been working on learning new techniques, as I previously mentioned.  Among my Pinteresting I’ve found a lot of images of beautifully wrapped wire pieces, so I’ve been having a go at that – using this pink wire:

I got a set of coloured craft wires for Christmas, and since I’ll never use the pink one I’ve designated it for practice.  I had a go at various techniques and I’m quite proud of myself for first attempts:

Some are better than others, but as usual I’ll get better with practice.  And then I’ll try and figure out something to do with lots of little pink curves and spirals.

I’ve been creating as well as experimenting though.  I made Tardis earrings – they were ready in time to wear while watching the premiere of the new season:

I made some two tier dangly earrings:

I made a Lego heart necklace:

And I went to make a feather bracelet too, but there’s a story involved with this one.  I saw a picture on a site somewhere of a bracelet with a nice big feather charm that was curved and lay nicely over the wrist, and I loved it.  So I went looking for some, and found some a little smaller but still great.  When they arrived I thought it’d look great on a nice piece of cord, which reminded me of another picture I’d seen online recently:

I could see it in my head perfectly.  Curved feather in the centre, folded cord on each side with a nice wrap of silver wire.  Except that I probably should have practiced the wire wrapping the cord first.

It isn’t a HUGE disaster, but I’m not happy with it, so I made it into a keyring instead – practicing the cord wrapping in the process.

And once I’ve practiced a bit more, I’ll attempt the bracelet again.

And finally… I’ve been testing an idea for a chain-style bracelet.

They feel very fragile, but they’re very pretty.  I think I like the bigger beads better.  What do you think?
